Pansy, work life lockdown

1. How do you make a living

Creative Lead at DraftLine London.

2. Has your career been impacted by Covid-19 and if so, how?

I thought work will be quiet as marketing projects get pulled and budget slashed.

But surprisingly, we have been super busy as brands seeks to produce Covid-19 related communication work.

Brands are not promoting products but as part of their corporate social responsibility, they want to be doing their part in helping to raise awareness of useful information or through related initiatives.

3. How has that impact made you feel?

I didn't really have the time to take in what was happening to my surrounding due to the sudden influx of projects and had to mentally block out my feelings and needs to make sure I was able to focus, to hit tight deliveries.

A lot of people I know in out of work so I had to stay quiet - I didn't want to sound boastful by voicing my stress with having too much work on.

4. How are you safeguarding your career during this time?

With the sure economy downturn, there is an invisible pressure to make sure I prove yourself to be useful more than ever before.

5. Will you change anything about your way of living when things go back to normal? If yes, how?

Yes. I will be more cautious with my plans and make sure I have a bit of a financial buffer - something to fall back on in case something happens.

I've given myself a goal to be more informed about not just the world around me, but the wider world as I realise we are now all so interconnected.

6. How are you maintaining your wellbeing during this time?

I try to eat healthy and stick to a loose routine.

It's been hard, but intentionally carving out offline time so that I'm not staring at a screen all the time.

The offline time consist of spending a bit more time cooking, reading, more TLC on my plants and slowing down the pace of life.

Learning to enjoy the simple things in life again.

7. If you were to recommend one thing to do in lockdown - what would it be & why?

Try and stay away from the moaners and to not get too worked up about the news if it's causing you anxiety.

It is good to stay informed but if it is causing you stress it is fine to switch off.

Focus on your own inner and outer health.

8. If a helping hand could be given to you now, what would it look like?

I feel very fortunate to still be working, be relatively healthy (I did get struck by mild Covid-19 but I am on the mend) and have a place to live.

I believe a helping hand should be given to people need it more - the NHS workers and people in poverty.

9. If you were to spend lockdown with a famous person, who would it be and why?

Though it will be a horrendous experience for both of us, Boris Johnson.

That might be the only way he would ever listen to the public!

10. What excites you most about post-lockdown life?

I am quite into the outdoors so I can't wait to escape the city and be active again.
